Why does a User need to submit both sides of a UK Residence Permit?

Both sides are required because both sides contain information that is required to check the validity.

  • Front - contains the individual's personal details (name, date of birth, document number etc) and the expiry date of the card.
  • Back - contains the MRZ (Machine Readable Zone which has certain unique security features) plus a description of any other supplementary documents are required for validity (e.g. a right-to-work visa).
